Superintendent of Schools
Dr. Catherine Carbone has served as an educator and administrator for 29 years. A former science teacher, teacher of the gifted, coach and administrator, she is committed to ensuring all students and staff are encouraged and empowered to reach their fullest potential. Dr. Carbone was appointed the Principal of Chippens Hill Middle School in 2006, serving six years in this capacity before joining the Hartford Public Schools as an Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent and Chief of Elementary and Middle Grade Programming.
Dr. Carbone improved the performance and climate programming in Hartford Public Schools, East Hartford Middle School and Chippens Hill Middle School. This was achieved by leveraging the strengths of her staff to implement effective strategies that foster student achievement and a sense of belonging. In 2009 and 2010, Chippens Hill Middle School community received recognition by the Connecticut Association of Schools in Exemplary Teaming Practices, Climate Practices, and Middle School of the Year.
Dr. Carbone earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut. She received a Master of Education from Southern Connecticut State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Sociology from Assumption College. Superintendent Carbone is committed to ensuring all students graduate with the agency, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to prepare them in college, career, and life.
Deputy Superintendent of Schools
Prior to being named Deputy Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Dietter was a member of the Central Office team serving as the Director of Special Services. Before joining the Central Office team in 2016, Dr. Dietter served as a Supervisor of Special Services for South Side Elementary School and Northeast Middle School. Dr. Dietter was a former Director of Education and teacher at Northwest Village School in Plainville, CT and is currently an adjunct professor at Central Connecticut State University.
Dr. Dietter earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership at Central Connecticut State University and Master’s degrees in Special Education and Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University and Lesley University, respectively.
Dr. Dietter has been recognized locally by the Connecticut Association of Special Education PTO for his collaboration and advocacy work. He was recently recognized by Wade’s World Foundation for his volunteer efforts working with Bristol youth. As the Deputy Superintendent, he will design and support district initiatives, develop school leaders, and continue to serve as the Chair of the Memorial Boulevard Intradistrict Arts Magnet School Building Committee.
Director of Teaching and Learning
Mrs. Carly Fortin has spent more than 35 years in the Bristol Public Schools, as a student, educator, and administrator. Mrs. Fortin began her career with Bristol Public Schools as a sophomore at Bristol Eastern High School when she was hired to enter data for Bristol Adult Education. While continuing to work in various positions at Adult Education, she earned her Masters' degree from the Integrated Bachelor's/Master's Program at the University of Connecticut, graduating from their Honors Program Summa Cum Laude.
Mrs. Fortin began her teaching career as an English teacher at Bristol Central High School and four years later was hired as their literacy coach. She earned her sixth year degree and administrative certificate through the UCAPP Educational Leadership program at UCONN. In 2005, she was hired as the Teaching and Learning Supervisor for Humanities where she worked with educators at the middle and high school levels. Mrs. Fortin returned to Bristol Eastern High School in 2008 as an Assistant Principal for three years, and Principal for four years. In 2017, Mrs. Fortin was named the Director of Teaching and Learning, a position that allows her to use her love for teaching and learning each day interacting with educators across the district.
Director of Human Resources
Dr. Kimberly Culkin joins Bristol Public Schools as an experienced educational school psychologist. Dr. Culkin has over ten years of central office leadership complemented by building administration, student services, and college teaching experience.
Dr. Culkin has worked in Hartford, Westport, and Newtown Public Schools as a school psychologist. Her experience in the Hartford Public Schools was at the middle and high school level therapeutic day program for students with significant social, emotional, behavioral and learning challenges. Her tenure in Westport and Newtown Schools allowed her to work across all grade levels. She began her first administrative position at EdAdvance as the administrator of the A.C.C.E.S.S./Gertrude Fielding Learning Center. She was later hired by New Fairfield Public Schools as the Supervisor of Secondary Pupil Personnel Services, and was then promoted to Director. Most recently, she served as the Director of Special Services and Director of Human Resources within the Region 14 Schools Central Office administrative team.
Dr. Culkin earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Lock Haven University and earned her Masters of Science and 6th Year equivalent in School Psychology at the University of Hartford. She later attended the University of Bridgeport for her 092 Administrative certification, and Central Connecticut State University for her 093 Superintendent certification. Lastly, she attended the UCONN Educational Leadership Doctoral program, and earned her Ed.D. in May 2021.
Director of Finance and Operations
Ms. Boisvert has served as the Director of Finance since May of 2022. Before joining the Bristol Public Schools, Ms. Boisvert served as the Director of Finance and Operations for the Torrington Public Schools and the East Haven Public Schools. Before becoming an administrator, Ms. Boisvert worked as the Executive Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations for the Rocky Hill Public schools and as the Accounting Manager for a local wholesale grocer. Ms. Boisvert holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University. She is currently working on earning a degree in Educational Leadership from the University of New England. Ms. Boisvert is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Connecticut Association of School Business Officials (CASBO).
Director of Special Services
Mrs. Amy Martino joins the Central Office team in her new capacity as Director of Special Services. During her tenure with the Bristol Public Schools, Mrs. Martino served as a School Psychologist for Memorial Boulevard Middle School and Bristol Eastern High School. She has served as the Supervisor of Special Services for schools across the district at all levels since 2015. Prior to Bristol, Mrs. Amy Martino served the Middletown Public Schools and Hebron Public Schools as a School Psychologist, while holding building and district leadership roles.
Mrs. Amy Martino earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University. She earned her Masters of Science and 6th Year equivalent in School Psychology from the University of Hartford and holds a specialist designation in child clinical counseling. She later attended Sacred Heart University for her Administrative certification. In 2022, Mrs. Martino was awarded one of twenty-five seats in the UCONN Aspiring Leaders Academy, working along-side esteemed state leaders in the field of Special Education. Mrs. Martino is currently a doctoral student at Sacred Heart University. She is expected to complete her Doctor of Educational Leadership in May of 2025, specializing in social-emotional and academic learning.
Mrs. Amy Martino is passionate about leading high quality Special Education practices within the Bristol Public Schools. She values student and family relationships. Her particular areas of focus include inclusive practices and social-emotional learning.
